Grounding Ourselves in the Good News This Lent

Starts Sunday, February 22 

Hamline Church embraces the Methodist tradition of small groups, providing opportunities to deepen faith in God, connect with others, and grow together in community.Starting the week of February 22nd, you are invited to take part in our seasonal small groups here at Hamline. Most will follow our worship series: Tell Me Something Good: Grounding Ourselves in the Good News This Lent; with one group focusing on Spiritual Practices and another on the Gospel of John.Small groups meet once a week for the six weeks of Lent concluding around Easter, April 5.Please take a look at the following options and see where you feel drawn to be in this holy season.

Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, February 18 - join us for dinner at 5:30 and worship with the imposition of ashes at 6:30pm.

  • Faith & Fellowship

    Sundays at 9:00am | Parlor

    The Sunday Morning Book Group reads and discusses a wide variety of “religious” literature by popular authors. We have fun and warmly welcome new folks, whether it’s for a single topic or the whole year. Book: Listening for the Heartbeat of God: A Celtic Spirituality by J. Philip Newel.

  • Fiction & Fellowship

    2nd Sundays (Sept - May), from 4:30pm - 6:00pm | Green Room

    Book lovers unite to read and discuss titles suggested by members of the group. All are welcome, even if they have not finished--or even begun--the book being discussed! Check out the previous Fiction and Fellowship books here!

  • Racial justice Book Group 

    Third Thursdays at 7:00pm | on Zoom | Sept 18

    Explore issues of social and racial justice through reading and discussion. We seek to grow in our understanding of and commitment to racial justice and reconciliation through our faith that is rooted in Jesus’ teachings, which are inherently antiracist. Book: Legacy: A Black Physician Reckons with Racism in Medicine by Uche Blackstock, M.D All are welcome.

  • Centering Prayer

    Sundays at 8:45am - 9:05 am | Hamline Church, Chapel
    Meets once a week for 20 minutes of contemplative prayer.  All are welcome; for further information on centering prayer a good resource is “ContemplativeOutreach.com”, the website that has grown out of Father Thomas Keating’s approach to silent prayer.

     

  • Men's Breakfast Group

    4th Thursdays at 8:00am | Perkins
    Perkins in Roseville, 1495 County B Rd. W.
    Start your day with a hot breakfast and good fellowship. All men are welcome.

  • Hamline Church Women / United Methodist Women

    5th Sundays at 11:30am | Parlor 

    All women are welcome to participate in our regular gatherings and events. Hamline Church Women/UMW are also active in a variety of mission and outreach in the church and beyond.

     

  • Mahjong Wednesdays

    Wednesdays at 1:00pm in the Parlor

    Are you interested in learning a new game? We have members who are newbies and others at 20 years of experience. Mahjong is fun and keeps your brain young. We laugh a lot and have fun getting to know each other. We would love to have you join us and would be happy to teach you how to play. We meet at 1:00pm in the Parlor and play until 3:30pm or whenever people need to leave. 

  • Grief & Loss Support Group

    4th Sundays after worship | Green Room

    The journey of grief and loss has many twists and turns. Having people with whom you can share thoughts and feelings can soften its edges. This is an open group and people are invited to join at any time to meet in the Green Room.

  • Music For the Soul

    Every other Monday (Sept - May) at 6:00pm | Parlor

    Join Laura Coale (musician, performer) in a special exploration of the Soul’s connection to music during this season. This group will share music with one another and explore the soul’s connection to music.
