HAMLINE TO HAMLINE

Hamline Church is proud to share a community and tradition with Hamline University. Our members include Hamline University students, alumni, staff and faculty--both current and retired. We are always available as a resource for Hamline students, whether for worship, academic collaborations, or pastoral care.

EVENTS

We regularly throw fun events for Hamline students! Each semester, we get together for lunch with our Hamline to Hamline group. We host cookouts at the beginning and end of the year, and often participate in Alumni weekend. The Hamline University choirs sing at our church regularly, and we also have contemplative worship events that bring the whole community together around worship beyond the typical Christian experience.

WAYS TO VOLUNTEER

Are you musical? Do you like to teach? Enjoy serving meals in homeless shelters? Maybe you just want to quietly pass the offering plate in worship once in a while. We will be more than happy to help you find opportunities to serve the community.

We collaborate with the university's Wesley Center for Spirituality, Service and Social Justice in maintaining the SPROUTS Garden behind the church. The harvested food gets donated to local elderly citizens and the Keystone Food Mobile. There are also Food Ethics classes that regularly use the garden. We are always looking for volunteers to help run the garden.

INTERNSHIPS

Hamline Students have a great many opportunities to work as interns at Hamline Church. From Communications and Social Media, to garden and justice work, to ministry internships, Hamline Church has served as an internship site for HU students for decades.

MUSIC OPPORTUNITIES

We feature a variety of musical styles in our services, including traditional hymns, blues, jazz, gospel, folk, rock, pop, and classical, and there are spots for students to perform in services. Whether you play in a string quartet or specialize in blues guitar, we'd love to collaborate on a piece of music for a service.

We are honored to work alongside Hamline University in providing a supportive, exciting, challenging environment to students of all ages.
