Small Group Opportunities for Adults
Hamline Church, Parlor
Centering Prayer meets once a week for 20 minutes of contemplative prayer. All are welcome; for further information on centering prayer a good resource is “ContemplativeOutreach.com”, the website that has grown out of Father Thomas Keating’s approach to silent prayer.
SUNDAY MORNING BOOK GROUP
Hamline Church, Parlor
The Sunday Morning Book Group reads and discusses a wide variety of "religious" literature by popular authors such as John Shelby Spong, Marcus Borg, Elaine Pagels and Bruce Feiller. We have pursued writings of early Christians, studied Emergence Christianity, a recent movement in Protestant Churches and addressed the issue of faith and the environment in A Hopeful Earth by Dyck and Ehrman. Lecture series by great teachers on DVD have broadened our understanding of world religions. We have fun and warmly welcome new folks, whether it's for a single topic or a year.

Sometimes there is a theme for the year or a rotation between fiction and non-fiction. All are welcome, even if they have not finished--or even begun--the book being discussed!
