The Friday Lunch Livestream Series features artists that have a close connection to making music at Hamline Church. Each mini performance will last approximately 20-25 minutes and be livestreamed to you utilizing Hamline Church’s state of the art audio and video recording equipment.

April 30, 2021: Micah Erickson

Join Hamline’s House Band Leader, Micah Erickson along with Andy Peterson for an afternoon of Folk Favorites! You’ll hear some of Micah’s favorite folk tunes from artists such as Simon & Garfunkel, Peter Paul & Mary, and James Taylor. Micah learned guitar from his father who loved folk music, so these were some of the earliest songs Micah remembers learning. Micah and Andy met while studying music at Augsburg and bonded over their love for silliness and wide ranging musical tastes.

March 19, 2021: Eileen Miller, Organ – From the Organ Bench, Music of Inspiration and Comfort

Join us on Friday, March 19 at 12 noon to enjoy the sound of Hamline’s 70 rank Casavant Chancel Organ. Eileen Miller, our church organist, will play a diverse program of music including selections by women composers Fanny Mendelssohn and Emma Lou Diemer and African-American composer, Ralph Simpson. It will be a half hour of music from the organ bench to comfort and inspire! Download a Program.


February 26, 2021: David Kozisek, Tenor – Songs My Students Taught Me

David KozisekJoin Director of Music, David Kozisek and guest pianist, Matthew MacFarlane for “Songs My Students Taught Me,” a carefully curated collection of musical theatre and popular songs that David has learned from teaching others in his role as a voice instructor at MacPhail Center for Music and Gustavus Adolphus College. You’ll hear classic ballads like “Till There was You,” contemporary theatre songs, and a few pop songs from artists like Jason Mraz and John Mayer. Hope to “see” you there!

Quartet Mixed Meter, featuring Tenor Section Leader Brandon Galbraith, presents: A Barbershop Christmas. Songs from the holiday season, new and old, sacred and secular will be sung in Barbershop style with close, rich harmonies and heartfelt emotion. The members of Mixed Meter are all proud members of local Barbershop and Sweet Adeline chapters that take pride in singing and educating our community about Barbershop. Join us Friday, November 20, at Noon to hear Hamline Church vocal soloist Meghan Sherer in a way you haven’t before! Meghan has performed regularly with Minneapolis-based theatre company Wayward Theatre as part of their Mixtape storytelling series, and sang lead with jazz group Lion and the Bloom before joining Hamline Church in 2010. In this time of isolation, she’s pulled together past collaborators from around the Cities to celebrate the simple act of playing songs you love with your friends. Tune in, put up your feet, and join us for a delightfully diverting half-hour of genre-hopping music. Justin Anthony Spenner, Baritone and Carson Rose Schneider, Pianist present an afternoon recital of art song by Black composers. Like Sun Through Eyelids describes the exciting potential of exploring the world after a long sleep. It is in this spirit of warm, slow awakening that Spenner and Schneider started their own exploration of the vast and exceptional repertoire of Black composers historically ignored in both academic and concert circles. They look forward to taking their first steps with you on Friday, October 30th at Noon, from the comfort of your own home.
