{"id":8325,"date":"2021-02-25T15:05:08","date_gmt":"2021-02-25T15:05:08","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/?p=8325"},"modified":"2021-09-09T15:47:52","modified_gmt":"2021-09-09T15:47:52","slug":"mnfoodshare-2021","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/mnfoodshare-2021\/","title":{"rendered":"Feeding our Hungry Neighbors"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-8326\" src=\"http:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Foodshare Donation Drive\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare-700x394.png 700w, https:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/foodshare.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/>March is Minnesota Food Share Month.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Hamline Church participates in this drive every year and this year the need is particularly great.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>As a result, we will be offering several opportunities to participate in the Food Share drive.<br \/>\n<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Drive-by Collection:<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\"><strong>\u00a0<\/strong> <\/span>On <strong>Friday, March 12 from Noon &#8211; 4pm,<\/strong> we will have a focused collection effort in the church parking lot.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>You can simply drive through the lot and we will have volunteers available to collect donated items from your car. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Keystone Community Services, our local food shelf provider, will provide a truck to pick up the collected food items at the end of the day.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>COVID safety protocols will be observed to keep us all healthy. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pick-up Option:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong>If you can\u2019t make it to the church on the 12th, but have items to donate, we will have some volunteer drivers available to pick up items from your home between 10am &#8211; Noon on March 12.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Watch for more details on this option in the weekly emails.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Contact Diane Krueger (dkkrueger@comcast.net) with questions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Wednesday Drop offs:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span><\/strong>If you are not able to participate in the March 12 collection, you can also bring your offerings to church any Wednesday in March between 10am &#8211; 2pm. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>Financial Donations:<\/strong> You can also donate on-line at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.hamlinechurch.org\/give\">hamlinechurch.org\/give<\/a> and select the fund \u201cMinnesota Food Share.\u201d If you wish to give cash, your check should be made out to Hamline Church, with MN Food Share or Keystone Services in the memo line. <span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>All donated items should be shelf stable, nutrient dense, and low sodium and easy open if possible. Suggestions include:<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0<\/span>applesauce, canned beans and other vegetables, canned meat (chicken, fish, ham, Spam), canned or dried fruit, crackers, peanut butter, instant mashed potatoes, rice, pasta, meals in a box, cooking oil, basic herbs and spices, whole grain cereal, and shelf stable liquid or powdered milk.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Small can openers are also useful.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>A final note, boxes and paper sacks are always needed at the food shelf.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>If you can deliver your items in a box or a paper sack that would be greatly appreciated!
