About the Music and Arts Series<\/h4>\n

The Music and Arts Series provides exceptional and meaningful performances to enrich the lives of those in the Hamline Midway neighborhood and the greater Twin Cities community. The 2025-26 season is filled with a diverse and exciting lineup of high-quality instrumental, choral, musical theatre, R&B, bluegrass, and dance artists. Mark Billy, Baritone with Kiegan Ryan, Cello in Recital<\/h3>\n

Choctaw baritone Mark Billy, a 2025 McKnight Fellowship winner and 2025 Native Performing Arts Fellow appears in recital with Cherokee composer and cellist Kiegan Ryan and pianist Dr. Charles Kemper.\u00a0 The program features a wide-array of repertoire including works by Ryan such as Kanohelvsgi Tsunilosvhi, a cycle of three Cherokee prayer songs originally sung on the Trail of Tears, and the premier of new work for cedar flute and cello. Fourteen Musical Meditations on Jesus\u2019 Passion, based on the grippingly dramatic poetry of Paul Claudel. Marcel Dupr\u00e9 employs twelve melodic themes and six rhythmic motives, each symbolizing a different element of the Fourteen Stations of the Cross.<\/p>\n
