Standing tall above the neighborhood, the church spire rises 80 feet above the roof, 160 feet above the ground.
At different levels, the groups of gargoyles spouting rainwater away from the structure are said to
symbolize the evil passions driven out of man by the Gospel.
The spire is crowned by a gold cross, the gold
glorifying Christ, and, indeed, symbolizing Jesus Christ, the Highest of the High. The green of the slate
roof blends with the patina from the copper metal of the spires and gutters.
