Hamline Church voted to become a reconciling congregation on May 16, 1999.
The Reconciling Statement was updated January 13, 2010
(and accepted by the congregation of the Church of the Good Shepherd)
prior to a merger creating “Hamline Church, UMC, A New Christian Community”.
As a Reconciling Congregation, our Church strives to bring Christ’s love and grace to all,
including persons and their families who experience prejudice, hatred, or unjust treatment
because of their sexual orientation. By declaring ourselves to be a reconciling congregation,
we join many other United Methodist Churches in inviting the full participation of all persons
including lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals.
We will work to eliminate prejudice and discriminatory practices within ourselves, our church,
and our community. We will promote a ministry of reconciliation,
believing that we are all loved by God.
