WELCOME
Our desire is to do the best job possible of loving God and loving people. Jesus said that these are the two most important commands in Scripture. In order to help us think through what love looks like within and outside of our community we have committed to these activities.
HOSPITALITY.
We will invite and welcome others into our life together.
BEAUTY.
In worship and through the arts we will reflect the glory and beauty of God.
CHRISTIAN LEARNING & PRACTICE.
We seek to be formed into the image of God through learning and the practices of the
Chrisitan life.
GIFT BASED MINISTRY.
We will seek to discover and employ the giftedness of each of our members.
SERVICE.
We seek to continue the work of Jesus in service and mission to the world.
OUR HISTORY
Hamline Church United Methodist is a new congregation formed from 2 former congregations. Church of The Good Shepherd and Hamline United Methodist Church have joined together and are housed in the historic building adjacent to Hamline University. Rev Peter Boehlke serves as Senior Minister. Peter attended a Baptist college and a Presbyterian seminary. Peter comes from a family of ministers. His style is eclectic contemplative and engaging. Peter previously served as Youth Minister at Hennepin Ave UMC, and Senior Minister of Church of The Good Shepherd.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Hamline Church is a mix of young, old and in-between. We are a community of people devoted to witnessing to the larger dimensions of life and faith in Jesus. The building we occupy is rich in history that we seek to continue in progressive ways. Our worship is eclectic, preaching is creative, and adult and children’s formation well cared for. Our attire is eclectic from casual to suits and hats. Folks should wear what they feel is appropriate as they come to encounter God in worship.
