Youth Group


Hamline Church Youth Group meets socially throughout the year for fun events like Skyzone, Ice Skating, Artsy Fartsy parties, picnics and movie outings. The Youth Ministry also participates in volunteer events, service projects, and justice events in our community. All students ages 6th through 12th grade are invited! We meet on the 1st & 3rd weekends of the month, usually Sunday Nights from 6:30 to 8:30 pm at the church.

Simpson Shelter Meal Service

4:00 pm - 8:30 pm (20 spots)

The Hamline Church Youth Group is coming together to serve a meal of meatloaf to 110 guests at the Simpson Shelter. The shelter is in a United Methodist Church in the Whittier neighborhood of Minneapolis. Simpson has a strict policy that there can only be 20 people per group, so an RSVP in advance is required. Counts as a Confirmation service requirement.
RSVP due by Sunday, March 12.

Visit to Mount Zion Temple

Friday, March 24 at 6:30 pm

Confirmation students are required to visit two places of worship that is not United Methodist, and we highly recommend visiting a place of worship that is not Christian. Visit Mount Zion Temple, a Reform Jewish Congregation, for a Shabat Service on Friday, March 24.

Lenten Group for High School Students


Wednesdays at 7 pm in Lent, 4 Sessions beginning on March 15
Lent is a time to come together and think about faith more intentionally, and so we’re embarking on a journey to get people connected in new and deeper ways. The theme is “40 Days in the Wilderness” and Maggie will be leading and adapting one of these groups for high school students. We will meet for 30 minutes to have a conversation about the topic, then have 1 hour of unstructured homework time for us to get together and hang out. We're meeting at Ginkgo Coffee House.

Visit to the Northwest Islamic Center

Want to learn more about Islam? This is a really important opportunity for us to get to know our Muslim neighbors. We will be able to see a prayer service and connect with Muslim youth during their Sunday School meeting.

Ross is putting on a concert of all the wonderful music he’s done here at Hamline over the years. Join the youth for the concert, and then hang out together at the after party!

Mission Trip Pre-Meeting & Gathering

Sunday, April 30 at 6:30 pm

Everyone participating in the mission trip gathers this evening to learn about what we will do, who we will meet, what to bring, and fundraising for this excellent experience.

Artsy Fartsy Party

Sunday, May 7 from 6:30 - 8:30
Bring all your art stuff and enjoy the company of other artsy types! Share materials, skills, and fun at youth group! We’ll also talk about spirituality, religion and creativity.

End of the Year Celebration

Saturday, May 20 at 6 pm
Everyone is invited to celebrate the end of the 2016-2017 year! Celebrate the students who will be confirmed tomorrow, bless them, and then play games and hang out.

Afton Alps Ski Trip

Interfaith Youth Day of Service

For students in 7th grade and up

For the third year in a row, Hamline Youth will attend the Interfaith Youth Day of Service on Presidents Day. Now more than ever, it is essential that we make connections with young people across cultures, faiths, and socio-economic divides. This event is a time to serve alongside teenagers from across the Twin Cities metro who feel the same way. In 2015, we helped clean up a day center for homeless families alongside Muslim teenagers, and more! Counts as a Confirmation service requirement.

Parent’s Night Out Fundraiser

Friday, February 24 from 5:30 to 8:00

The kids are taking over the church! Parents leave kids at church and enjoy some quality time together. Youth are planning games, crafts, and activities for younger children. Parents pay $5 per child in grades pre-K to 6th grade, and the cost benefits the Youth Mission Trip. Adult supervision will be provided, and youth are preparing the whole event!
