HAMLINE CHURCH WOMEN
- The former "UMW (United Methodist Women) at Hamline Church" has re-organized as "Hamline Church Women" (a group loosely affiliated with UMW ) -
Organizers of Hamline Church Women wish to thank all who contributed to the annual Holiday Bazaar on Nov. 28, 2010.
Customers, donors, and workers - all played important parts in the success of the bazaar. Proceeds go primarily to the benefit of the church.
A group of "Hamline Church Women" met twice last fall for lunch and socializing (and will continue to meet once a month) on Mondays at 1PM at Perkins in Roseville: November 8 and December 13, 2010.
In winter, 2011 our meetings began taking place at Salzo's in the Ramada Inn NW off HW 280 at 35W on Industrial Blvd.
2nd Mondays @ Scalzo's Info!
Watch for additional developments...

ALL CHURCH - SPRING RUMMAGE SALE [NOT a UMW sponsored event] Friday, May 14 through Saturday May 15, 2010
Hamline women helped the group collect donations for the sale and contact Kent Krueger to arrange for pickup of larger items.
We accepted slightly used CLEAN clothing, furniture in good condition (no bed mattresses), books, toys, games, tools, or almost anything else that were thought to be of value as a recycled good. Electronics were to be in excellent working condition - NO TELEVISIONS! Because all donation items were stored elsewhere until the sale, bringing anything that might be damaged by freezing or by cold weather storage was discouraged.

Spring Fling 2009 Info
Donations included items for the craft sale, collectibles for the silent auction and baked goods. Gift baskets for the silent auction were a great family donation. Proceeds were used to further the mission of UMW in helping women and children, such as our commitment to Emma Norton Services and other projects. We thank everyone for willingness to participate.

The UMW continued with the tradition of an "All Church Neat Repeat" Rummage Sale on April 11 and 12, 2008. They agreed to plan for forthcoming new departures in 2009!
We thank all of the people of the church who have so generously helped out in visiting shut-ins, distributing Christmas gifts, and supporting all our activities and fund raising endeavors over the years. The famous "Hamline UMC Hamloaf" has been a part of our menu for many years at the Hamline Church Dining Hall at the State Fair. The UMW (with church Dining Hall team) make frozen hamloaves available for sale in two sizes at the church upon occasion during the year.
Jan Bajuniemi was elected as Metro East District UMW Treasurer and served from 2007 through 2009. Several Hamline UMW members attended the 2007 installation meeting/luncheon at St. Croix Valley UMC. Hamline UMC hosted a "Memories of Metro East UMW" event on Saturday, April 26, 2008. In 2009 UMW began to follow Minnesota's United Methodist redistricting when "Metro East" was merged with the western Metro UMWs as the "Twin Cities District".
A recent UMW project was that of gathering recipes from members of the congregation and preparing "mini-recipe booklets" for sale at the November 19, 2006 UMW Bazaar. There are now TEN booklets, (an additional 3 were created in spring 2007), gathered into food categories which sell at $2.00 each. Call the church office for info about purchasing them (there are copies still available). We are very grateful to all those who worked so diligently to create this excellent fund-raiser for the UMW and the church.
Around 100 attended the "LADIES WHO LUNCH" potluck meal at noon on Saturday, March 24, 2007. The Speaker was Ann L. Burckhardt, journalist and author. Two recipes from her book, Hotdish Heaven, were served: the "Ladies who Lunch chicken hot dish" and the"Pecan topped sweet potato side dish". Copies of that book and also A Cook's Tour of Minnesota were sold and autographed after the luncheon. Proceeds go towards meeting capital needs for the church.
