GIVING OPPORTUNITIES
2009-2010
The
Thanksgiving offering in
2009 went to our apportionments for the Ministerial Education Fund, Black
College Fund, and Africa University.
Any remainder was donated to Keystone Community Services to help provide vouchers their clients
can use for food, gas, housing or other needs.
Holiday gift
giving opportunities for our congregation included the Sharing Tree for
children and adult size scarves, hats, mittens, gloves, and socks which were
given to the Hancock School
for distribution to their families through the winter months. The Sharing Tree
was located in our sanctuary.
Our church will also continue to collect new underwear and/or gently
used clothing and shoes to support God's Closet.
Clothing and shoes for men are especially needed this year. Donation boxes are located in the
Commons area.
HUMC is
providing through spring term 2010 snacks and refreshments three times a
week to the McVay Youth Partnership program where Hamline University
students work with 15-16
junior high youth to assist them with academic and leadership skills.
The
Church and Society/Missions Committee needs your help to purchase and bring
snack and beverage item donations which can be left in the Parlor kitchen in a
cupboard marked McVay Youth Partnership. (Located opposite the refrigerator). Cash
donations will also be accepted at the hospitality hour on the fourth Sunday of each month as the children
are collecting food items for the Food Shelf.
Watch for information about speical collections as needs
arise.
